Caravan Experience - The Spirit of Sportsmanship

Having interacted with the kids for the first time last week, I recognized many of the faces from the last week. Some of them recognized me too. This was a surprise. In this caravan session, we managed to play several rounds of volleyball and football. Seeing the enthusiasm and interest the kids showed through the games was particularly inspiring. Facilitating the games was very joyful.

Whilst playing football, one of the kids suffered a minor cut. But he still continued as though nothing had happened. This was refreshing to see as you'd expect a kid of that age to stop playing having suffered a cut.

The corporation that the kids showed at the school really stood out. The kids explained the rules to each other better than how we did, as it was something that we struggled with owing to the language barrier. The students were were enthusiastic about learning new things through the games we played. The students waited patiently for their chance throughout the entire session. Interaction with the students was made easy due to the enthusiasm of the students.

The incident that caught my eye was the sense of sportsmanship that was clearly evident among the children. I was in charge of football and all the children played the game fairly, there were no fouls committed and if ever a handball was committed, the children owned up to it. This was very prominent throughout the game.
